The placement of all and both within a sentence can be varied, especially when discussing word order with verbs.

Before the verb

  • We both like going to the cinema.
  • They all left without saying goodbye.

After the verb be when be is the only verb

  • The boys were all happy.
  • The players are both tired.

After auxiliary verbs (the first one if there are multiple.)

  • They are all going to disappear.
  • The robbers have both been arrested.

After the subject in question

  • Have they both finished?
